Dental Bridges
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a custom-made prosthetic device designed to replace one or more missing teeth by literally “bridging” the gap between remaining natural teeth. This fixed restoration not only restores your smile’s appearance but also helps maintain proper bite function and facial structure. How Does it Work?
Traditional dental bridges consist of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) anchored in place by dental crowns on either side. These crowns are placed on the healthy adjacent teeth, called abutment teeth, providing stable support for the replacement tooth in between.Types of Dental Bridges:
- Traditional Bridge: Most common, using crowns on adjacent teeth
- Cantilever Bridge: Supported by a crown on just one side
- Maryland Bridge: Uses metal wings bonded to existing teeth
- Implant-Supported Bridge: Anchored by dental implants
Benefits:
- Restores your natural smile and confidence
- Maintains proper bite alignment
- Prevents remaining teeth from shifting
- Improves speech and chewing ability
- Distributes bite forces evenly
- Long-lasting solution with proper care
